I work in the Audio Visual Department of the Church and we are currently working on an open house video for the Australia Brisbane Temple. On April 14 we will be filming some interviews in front of the Mount Timpanogos temple in American Fork, Utah. We would like to interview some Australians, but I'm having a bit of a time finding any! If you are a temple worthy member of the Church from Australia who is living or visiting the Wasatch Front at that time, we would love to have you. To members of the Australia East Mission in 1972:
My father, Joseph S Chapman, was a misisonary in the Australia East mission (of which Australia Brisbane is a direct descendent) back in 1972.
During his mission, he appeared on an Australian game show, "I've Got a Secret", which was recorded on November 13, 1972 and broadcast
on November 23, 1972 on QTQ9.
His journal entry on November 13, 1972 says:
'This evening I had the opportunity of being the guest on the T.V. program,
"I've Got a Secret." I was the first one on the air and the most scared.
My secret was the replica of the Aztec Calendar Stone. We received some
good possibilities for public relations thru it. The show will be on T.V. on
the 23rd of this Month. We only video taped it this evening. So I will get
the opportunity of seeing myself on the program.'
The TV station, QTQ9 (now Channel 9 Brisbane) and production company, Reg
Grundy Enterprises (now part of Fremantle Media Group),don't have this
episode in their archives. Neither does the church archives in Salt Lake City.
I am trying to track down a copy of this program, in any format, for a
surprise birthday present this coming June.
Do you know if the mission kept a copy of that broadcast? If you, or anyone you know, has kept a copy of this broadcast and would be willing to sell it or copy it for me (expenses will be happily reimbursed), please contact me at "dadtv@sparhawkdownloads.com".
Even if you don't have a copy, any information you can give me to track down
this show would be greatly appreciated, even if that simply involves
forwarding this message to fellow missionaries from that time period.
