Comments: Upon returning home in 1983, Pres. Sharp was invited to join the faculty of the University of Utah's Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, where he practiced and taught for 13 years. His subspecialty work involved initiating a urodynamic testing lab. and a pain clinic for women with chronic pelvic pain. He also taught pelvic and reconstructive surgery for women with pelvic relaxation's secondary to childbirth.
On May 1, 1988 he was sustained and ordained a patriarch for the Salt Lake Monument Park Stake. Sister Sharp has transcribed his blessings
and has served continuously in many church capacities: Stake Relief Society President, counselor in a University of Utah Stake Relief Society Presidency, Ward Relief Society Presidency counselor and several
teaching callings in that organization.
In 1995 the Sharps were called to a medical humanitarian mission in Yekaterinburg, Russia, where they served until March 1997. Duties included: counselor to the first Russian ever to
