HOW IT ALL HAPPENED: (a mother's short version!)
Our daughter, Chelsee was introduced to James Valle' (pronounced "Val'-Yay") last October. After a five month courtship they became engaged earlier this month. How did they meet? Well, Bob (Hawley) had just purchased a landscape curbing trailer & equipment from James' brother in Northern Utah last Fall. As part of the purchase, James and his brother and nephew agreed to come down to St. George to train Bob & sons on the equipment. Upon meeting James I felt an "instant rapport" and found myself suggesting (half-jokingly) "you really should date my daughter!" Shortly thereafter Chelsee came outside and I introduced them. That evening we all went to dinner together and afterwards Chelsee and James were visiting with one another, exchanging phone numbers and agreeing to stay in touch. Indeed they did and became very close friends - mostly over the phone. Their visits to one another began to increase as each had time off work, and as you can see, their friendship has evolved!

A few weeks ago James and his father, Manuel came down to St. George. Together they purchased and prepared an impressive, traditional Peruvian meal of shrimp, fish and rice. (It was delicious!) They drove up to our house, served us this excellent meal, then with his father along side to lend support, James formally asked Bob and I for Chelsee's hand in marriage. He expressed his love for her and his desire to provide, care for, and protect her, as well as Eli. We were very touched and impressed with his efforts and sincerity.

James family immigrated from Peru when he was young and his family settled in Idaho where he grew up the youngest boy in a large family. James served a 2-year LDS mission to Chile when he was 19 year old. When he returned he married and later divorced. He is the proud father of four children ages 3-12. (3 boys and 1 daughter) Chelsee's son, Eli - now nearly 2, loves James and his children - and is loved in return. We feel that James and his children are now a special part of our family! His two youngest boys will reside with he and Chelsee, so together they will be busy with three active boys under their roof! We have experienced James as a patient, easy-going, fun "husband-to-be" and father, and a hard worker in his family's concrete business. We believe that this marriage will be the beginnings of a wonderful and sweet family and we are very happy for them.

We know that life is busy and schedules are hectic - and for many of you this will mean traveling from out of state.
Whatever your situation, please know that we would love to have you if you can make it! After the wedding, there are many wonderful things to see and do here in the
St. George area --- Come up to our Ranch on Saturday or Sunday to visit! Visit Zion's National Park, 12 Golf Courses, Hiking, Biking, Fishing, Site-seeing, etc.
Plan a weekend get-a-way to beautiful St. George! Please REPLY and let me know if we can assist you with making plans and if you'll be able to join us!

Much love,
Bob & Janie
