Comments:
I've been married six years. We have one energy-filled, huge-smiling, often-over-excited 18-month-old daughter. I got tired of finance, got a degree in computer science and now I'm a software engineer. Life is good.

I met my wife on December 16, 1999 (my birthay). She wasn't a member of the church, but she was curious. Nothing my giving her a copy of the Book of Mormon couldn't stoke. Three missionary discussions later and she blew me away when she asked me to baptize her.

I married her on June 10, 2000. We talked about waiting until she'd been a member a year, but once it was clear we were both committed to getting to the temple together, we decided there really wasn't a good reason to put off our marriage. We were sealed June 16, 2001. In retrospect, it was good. We were able to go to the temple together, do vicarious sealings, and experience the whole thing together before we were sealed. When we were finally sealed, the surroundings weren't new, the ceremony was familiar, and the experience profound. We learned some things there that day that have helped us ever since.

I'm happy to say that nearly ten years after I got on a plane and left Chile I still know that the church is true. Prayers are answered. The spirit comes when one prays and studies scripture with even the least bit of faith.

I heard tonight that a thirty-one year old guy named Matt Preece died in a helicopter crash in Nepal. The pictures looked a lot like the Matt Preece who was my companion for three months. The age is right too. Maybe I'll find out that it was someone else, but either way ... Matt Preece, you were a good example. Good enough that many times on my mission, and a few times after, when I needed help to know what to do, I found my self asking, "What would Preece do?" God bless you.

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord’s work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
- Elder L. Tom Perry
Ensign, Nov. 2001
