Comments:
Our 4th child is 4 years old as of 2008 making 3 girls and a boy. We love canoe tripping, camping, cross country skiing, all the wilderness pursuits. Last summer we sailed the North Channel of Lake Huron as well as the usual canoe trips. I am Vice-Principal of Lively high school and finished MSc. grad studies in wildlife biology, wolves to be specific. After years of dreaming of going back to Paradise, we took the kids down to Costa Rica and lived up Turrialba volcano in a beautiful villa for 2 months, July and August of 2004. My oldest, Katie started chattering away in spanish with the neighbourhood kids by the end of the summer and all would join in for daily soccer matches on the grounds of the house we rented. I learned to ride a horse and hunted doves with a neighbour in between trips out to set up a humanitarian project to bring solar powered LED lighting to remote Indigenous communities of the Chirripo, Buenos Aires and Talamanca regions. We are loving the work and Pamela and I returned with our children March 2008 to install 100 more lighting systems. By the end of that trip we had brought light to over 245 families/1400 people who till now have only lived by kerosene torches. Mark Echohawk (companions 1991) and I backpacked out and installed panels on a few homes in the first week of March. Please visit http://www.lutw.org/project_CostaRica.html for further details. We are supplying a home with a pair of LED bulbs, a small solar panel and battery for about $150 per family. My students have raised over $15 000 this past year and people are repaying out of the fuel savings to help neighbours get systems. Contributions are welcome and can be made by mailing cheques payable to University of Calgary:Light Up the World to my address, contact me by email for that. Pam is Second Counsellor in the Stake Young Women's Organization and I am serving as Bishop of the Sudbury Ward.

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
- Elder L. Tom Perry
