I am the father of would-be Elder Kevin Wong who's just been called to the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission as a Spanish-speaking missionary. He will be reporting at the MTC on July 4, 2001. |

I served in the ft. lauderdale florida mission as a portuguese speaking missionary from dec. 95-oct97 and i loved it. The brasillian people are the greatest and i love them and all the latino people in miami. |

My Son, Mark Bennett, is serving in Miami as a Portuguese-Speaking Missionary. |

In the mid-1970's I was living in Plantation, Florida when 2 missionaries knocked on my door. I was a young single mom with a daughter. Several of my family members in other areas of the country had joined the church so I was curious. I decided to listen to the discussions. Those 2 Elders worked diligently with me for a couple of months. They put their hearts and souls into what they were doing and I knew there was truth in what they taught me. However, one day I asked them not to come back. I could feel their disappointment, but I could not reconcile issues I had with the Priesthood (this was pre-1978 and the era of feminism).
Along the way I lost their cards and also their names from my memory, but I will always remember them. You see, they planted seeds which after a time began to grow. Several years later, I came in contact with the Church again, and thanks to the basic understanding I had of the gospel from the teaching of those 2 Elders, I was able to resolve the conflicts I had felt regarding the Priesthood. I was baptized on 21 Aug 1982 in Rochester, New York. It also took another several years before I was able to find my eternal companion, but I did. We were sealed in the Washington DC Temple on 11 Feb 1989. On that day I was also privileged to become mother to my husband's 2 children. The younger, our son Chuck, is currently serving a mission in the El Salvador, San Salvador West Mission.
For years I have hoped that I could find those 2 Elders who initially taught me the gospel. This message is for them and anyone else who had a door shut in their face or was asked not to come back. Thank you. Your work was not in vain. The seeds you planted were not wasted. And now the work moves forward with my son in the next generation of missionaries, teaching, baptizing, and sowing seeds. |

I just got my mission call to the Ft. Lauderdale Florida mission (English Speaking). I am very excited. There aren't very many messages on here so I thought I would add one. If anyone has any thing that they would like to tell me about the mission ie. what the people are like, exact mission boundaries, what is in the mission or what ever e-mail me at David30915@aol.com. |

I just wanted to say hi to all the old missionaries that served in Boca Raton from 1987-1989. I got a kick out of seeing your names and it brought back a lot of memories. |

I moved to DelRay Beach in May of 1986. I was a member of the church for one week when I got there. If it wasn't for the Elders who served there, Saunders, Judd, Bower, and many others I never would have stayed active in the Church or have gone on a mission. I've been a member for 15 years now and I thank the Elders that got me in the water and the ones that kept me on fire for the Gospel. If any of you remember me I would love to hear from you.

I am the proud father of a Florida Fort Lauderdale missionary. Elder Adam L. Nay is presently serving in Miami and is experiencing many great things there. |

Is Andros Island in the Bahamas, a part of this mission? Do missionaries serve near the Autec sight? Are there members near the Autec sight? Where do they go to church and how big is their branch.
Thank you for any help at all.
