Congratulations Florida!! You did it. My family has a brother and son serving in the Ft. Lauderdale mission, Elder Gregory Mark Scoville. He instructed us to pray for a temple to be announced for his/your mission. My family did so, and in so doing we feel tremendously filled with this announcement that President Monson made this morning in the first session of conference. Prayer is wonderful, and so is the incredible work of the saints in the Ft. Lauderdale area to make this happen.
The church is wonderful!

In doing some research about Karl R. Lyman, I noticed that your association had him listed as mission president 1960 - 1963. That is correct. You had no other information on President Lyman. It might be helpful then for you records that President Lyman passed away 10 years ago on October 1, 1998. Sister Lyman passed away on January 3 of this year at the age of 93. As their youngest son, I was in the mission with them. We thank you for remembering his time in Florida. It was dear to Pres. & Sister Lyman and to all of us. The best to you. Chad K. Lyman |

We will build a Temple in South Florida, all members have to do the Lords work today, the blessings will come in due time. I need to give the Orlando temple so much work that the need and the blessing will come with faith, service and simple missionary work, sharing the gospel and help the members go to the house of the Lord, Let’s move forward. I would like to hear from Elders Wayne Chambers and/or Jay Toombs who served in Homestead during 1976. They were "my missionaries" who helped introduce me to the church. I was baptized on February 14, 1976. Thanks! |

This is all i can do to thank 4 missionaries i received for dinner when i lived within the Hollywood ward area. I was about to abandon my desire to go on a mission since my life had a dramatical change. My parents were then separated and my family divided. I asked one of those four Elders a blessing of strength. Then during the blessings the tender and renovating influence of the spirit impressed my soul when i heard the words: "God want's you to know that he loves you". I know it, i'm serving my mission in Viña del Mar Chile. I'm working at the mission office and received permission to send this. Thank you Elder, for being an Elder... |

Time sure flys by once you are home. I loved the Ft. Lauderdale Mission. I really hope someday they can build a temple there. Good work all. |

Elder Avelar left his Missionary Journal on a Delta Air Lines plane on Wednesday, August 29th and I am trying to return it to him. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all!
This is for all those who served in the Davie Ward during 2003-2007. The eternal investigator/new member Andy Randels finally joined his beloved wife, Flo, on 22 March 2007. He died at the of age 92. For the past month and half his health had deteriorated slowly.
His family is struggling with this so please keep them in your prayers. |

Sister Chaffin and I appreciate the upkeep and information provided by this site. Elder Chaffin initially was assigned to the Ukraine, but after 9 weeks in the MTC he was sent home to rehabilitate his back. He then was assigned to the Florida Ft. Lauderdale Mission. Our family lives in Billings, MT in the Billings Montana Stake. We appreciate his companions, leaders and the many people who have touched his life. |

Pres. Craig Potter, former Mission Pres. in Ft. Lauderdale, passed away yesterday in Houston during a stress test. He was 60, I believe. A sealer in the Houston Temple. He and his wife Reba live in our daughter's ward in Houston. Funeral is next Monday. Definitely one who was ready to go! Dick |

Just a note to wish our Niece, Hermana Liesel Hinckley, the Lord's blessings during her mission in Florida Fort Lauderdale!
