Comments:
Hermana Ashley Crockett entered the MTC in Provo on November 5, 2008. She was set to leave for Guatemala on November 25, 2008, but had problems with her knee and couldn't leave until that problem was cleared up. She spent about 3 months in the MTC doing physical therapy and trying to get her knee back to good condition. Finally, on about February 28, 2009 she left for Guatemala. She has served in three areas so far and is now a trainer. She is also teaching English classes. She has had much success.
Update:
Ashley is now in Huehuetenango. In her last e-mail she said she was a District Leader because she was the missionary who had been on her mission the longest. She was learning new dialects as well as Guatemalan sign language. There have been more baptisms and she just loves her mission! I think when it comes time to leave, it will be very difficult for her.
Update:
Ashley is a trainer again and has opened an area that hasn't had missionaries in about 6 years. From her descriptions, it is a very small and poor area. She has to wash her own clothes in a pila and cook her own food. She is enjoying her companion from Provo, Utah. She does not want to know how many months or days she has left on her mission. As mentioned before, she will not want to leave when the time comes.

Update:
Ashley has just a short time left on her mission. It's hard to believe it's almost over. I understand she will have transfer this coming Monday (4/19/10). I am sure she will finish her mission well. She has had many successes and opportunities for growth. I know she has changed the lives of many people in Quetzaltenango and the ripples will be felt for lifetimes to come. She said she has been offered three different jobs in San Marcos to teach English. She would love to stay and help the people there, but she knows she needs to come home first.
