I started attending church meetings in Aug. 1972. I was baptized the first week of Jan. 1973 at the old Manhattan Wards chapel on W. 81st St. Albert Woodhouse was my 1st bishop. I was ordained an Elder there on Mar. 10, 1974. I helped move to the new chapel in May 1975. New York was a great place for me to "grow up" in the Church. I had many great experiences in the city with young adults and home teaching. Elders Lyle Hileman and Clain Anderson taught me the missionary lessons at the old mission home, 973 5th Ave. in late 1972. I served as financial clerk in the Manhattan 2nd Ward. Joel, Abner and Nathaniel Scribner lived at E. 8th St. & Broadway in 1811. In 1813 they founded my hometown of New Albany, Indiana, named after Albany, the capitol of New York. New York City is my hometown in the Church.
