Taught Norwegian language and culture at the MTC off and on from September 1981 - August 1984; taught Norwegian at BYU 1982-1985. Married to Sheryl Lynn Sanders Merkley in 1981. Graduated from BYU in 1984 and University of Chicago Law School and Business School in 1989. Father of Rachel (26) - married and returned missionary from Oklahoma City mission; Steven (22) - BYU student and returned missionary from Toronto East mission; Sean (19) - currently serving in Honduras San Pedro Sula Mission; Logan (17); and Brandon (11). Lived in Utah, Illinois, Oregon, Wisconsin and moved to Springville, UT in 2003 to teach junior high math and science. Took new job with Employer Solutions Group in in July 2007.
