Comments:
As most of you know, I finished the mission by getting shot in Mendoza and ended up paralyzed. I had to chose between sneaking out the front door or letting the thieves get away with my Hoja de ubicacion, which had everybody in the mission's name and address on it. By the time I realized I'd left it in the bedroom the thieves were already inside the house and there was no way I could let them get away with a guide to help them rob (or worse) every Elder and Hna. in Mendoza.

Still it wouldn't have mattered if the Argentine cops hadn't waited 25 minutes to show up, by which time they figured the coast was clear. They arrived 2 minutes too late to save me, but in time to catch the bad guys. I suppose that makes getting shot worth it, since it prevented any of the rest of you from getting hurt.

I've been paralyzed ever since, but finished college at Ricks and BYU with honors, which just means I had to speak at graduation! I worked as a computer programmer for WordPerfect for several years.

In 1997 I developed cysts inside my spinal cord, which crushed it and left me in severe chronic pain. 7 surgeries didn't ease the pain, although they should keep me from suffering any further damage. I hope that one of these years they'll come up with an effective treatment.

I'm a bachelor again, since 2004. I find I rather like the single life. It's quiet and my time is my own. If I can't cook something in the microwave, I don't eat it!

I spend most of my free time reading and trying vainly to sleep once in a while. I've given up on network TV and I'm more of a History and Discovery channel guy in my old age. I'm on Facebook, but I don't use it much - it's handy to see old friend's pictures but that's my limit.

I have two daughters, ages 18 and 16, and we get together twice a month, where they spend WAY too much time texting their friends, talking on their cell phones, typing on their laptops, and doing whatever it is you do with an Ipad. When did they turn into teenagers? ;)
