Served: 1985 - 1987 | Areas Served: Nogales, Douglas, Tucson, Clifton/Morenci/Duncan | Companions: Carl M Baker | Jorge Alberto Deluna | Terry Darwin Porter | Spouse: Linda | Comments: What great memories seeing this site. I love hearing stories of the great missionaries I knew.
I live in NC now and have 4 (for now) kids - Zach-11, Jessica-9, Sam-6 & Benjamin-3. Linda and I are very happy.
Interestingly one of my old seminary students (early morning) was called to the Tucson mission (primarily where I served) - he was excited to walk the hallowed paths that Bro. Connor walked!
I see Frank Jones every couple of years (us NC boys) and keep in touch with Garrett and Mitton. I would love to hear from anyone else.
April '05: My kids are all 3 years older and we have added what we solemnly like to call our last - Julia is now almost 2.
I was touched by President Faust's talk in Prthd Conf this session regarding his misssion - his words could not have resonated more strongly for me. My mission both before and after have been a "north star" to me. I appreciated the opportunity to talk to my kids about how important it was.
I am fortunate for all of those who I have heard from over the years who remind me of how they touched my life and the great experiences we had.
My testimony is still strong and, when goaded (which is easy), I'll even pull out a "mission cheer" to inspire the youngsters ;-) I just can't get back up from the 1/2 splits like I used to.
Ah, the great memories of ATM - Christmas mission conference watching "Red Fury", the travelling AD's coming to visit, transfer days in Tucson, Elder Schmidt bruising everyone's hands w/ his bullet passes, Sister George counseling us while waiting for interviews w/ President George, the curbies sitting outside the highschool by the mission home, DA's, Sister Spark's inspirational cassette, reaching through the fence to touch Mexico in Nogales, hearing the legend of Wishart's midnight transfer from the legend himself, Bro. Cheney in Tucson, Sister Cheney in Douglas, the Australian missionary couple that got busted at the border, all of the Span Am's, insert your own here |
