Presidents: Marvin Wallin (1977 - 1980) | Served: 1977 - 1979 | Areas Served: Christies Beach, Torrens, Elizabeth, Woomera, Whyalla | Companions: Ned Ashby | Greg Behrmann | William Dean Bolton | Kerry Brinkerhoff | Your Occupation: Educational Technologist | Spouse: Delene Leifson | Comments: After spending 20 years in Utah as a building contactor I went back to college and finished my degree in education from Southern Utah University. I graduated in May, in June I was given a job with the Department of Defense, and by the end of July we were in Yokosuka, Japan. That was six years ago in 2001. After spending two years in the Tokyo area we received a transfer to Okinawa. In 2005 I finished my Masters of Education with an emphasis in technology and now I work at the District Superintendent’s Office helping educators and students understand how to infuse technology throughout the curriculum.
Our children:
Dena – Graduates from Utah State University Spring of 2007 as a high school math teacher. Her husband Jared graduated several years earlier and is running the lab at Cache Valley Cheese. Most importantly Dena is going to have our first grandson in June 2007.
Dane – Served his mission in Nebraska and is now attending Utah State University where he is studying Applied Technology.
Bobby – Graduated from Kadena High School last year. Bobby will be submitting his mission paperwork this summer.
Jessica – Can’t wait to get into High School next year.
Molli – Is in 6th grade and has joined the Young Women’s program where she is having a blast as a Beehive
My sweet wife Delene, works at school with me. She works with special needs children. In our spare time we have had a wonderful time exploring the Pacific with our family. So far we have explored Japan, Korea, Guam, and Saipan. Our house is right on the Sea of Japan. We put on our diving gear, walk across the street and we are able to enjoy some of the greatest diving in the world.
The gospel is thriving in Okinawa especially in the military community that we live in. I am serving on the District High Counsel and as the Financial Clerk in our Branch. Delene is serving as Homemaking Leader in our Branch. We love living here and are blessed with many opportunities to serve the Lord in numerous capacities. |
