Our little community seems like a postcard of Northeastern Americana. It's beautiful, no matter the season! Michael is working as a computer programmer for a company in Saratoga Springs. Sydney is mid-way through 1st Grade. She's bright, precocious, and very articulate. Adielle is three going on four. She posseses a natural ability to make others laugh. She's energetic and helpful. Hayden is nine months old. He has mastered the "army crawl." With a combination of rolling and moving on his elbows and knees, he can get anywhere and into anything. When he isn't teething, he's a very mellow and pleasant baby. I feel priveleged to raise these unique and wonderful little souls. We keep busy with daily life, church activity, etc. Michael is serving as the Elder's Quorum President in our our ward, and I was recently called to serve as a counselor in the Young Women's program. We're enjoying our time in New York and value our experiences here. During the peek fall season, we took a drive to the east into Vermont for the first time to visit the birth place of Joseph Smith in Sharon. The sky was clear, the autumn scenery vivid and the day was memorable. It's been incredible to live in the "cradle of the Restoration." Our children are growing up with a very detailed picture of early Church History. I must admit, however, that I have dreams of returning to the west and to family. In the short time that we've lived here, we've lost close and dear family members. The distance has helped us appreciate all the more the promise of the Resurrection and the opportunity for families to live together forever. The Gospel makes separations of distance and death so much more bearable to cope with. I'm always grateful for the 18 months I spent in Australia, serving a full-time mission. My mission has positively impacted every aspect of my life. I'm a different wife, mother and member of the Church as a result. |
