I resigned my membership with the church in April 2008 after having been an active member in full fellowship my entire life.
I still remain true to many of the values not exclusive to Mormonism. My disaffection began several years before while studying the actual vs faithful history of the church. I never would have dreamed as a member that I would ever ask to have my records removed. However, the deep sense of betrayal of trust by particularly the founders left me with little choice if I were to be true to what I consider my personal integrity.
Some would speculate that I may have ulterior motives (as I suspected of other apostates while a member). On the contrary, it would have been much easier to remain a silent unbeliever within the only community that I have ever really known from my youth.
To this day I am glad to have served with many of you those very short 16 months in Melbourne (the mandatory 18 month program). There is much I could comment on concerning being driven by guilt and numbers. But inspite of these distractions, I am glad for much of the experience - learning to serve, love and care for others beyond myself and finding contentment in doing so.
Although I remain unafilliated with organized religeon, I intend to continue to live as a Follower of Christ as this is where I believe I will always find my peace and serenity.
I also served with elders Robert Ayer, Morrell, J. Moroni Sherwood, Brett Palmer and Jesse Lewis.
