Stories: Touched by an Angel

While serving in Dubbo, my companion and I were on our way home, from a
teaching appointment in Wellington, 30 minutes north of Dubbo. We were
really pushing for time, and wanted to be home before 9.30pm. We checked
our watch and could see, we only had 15 minutes to get back to our flat.
We were very low on gas, and as I was the driver, I drove to the gas
station just out of town. I zipped out of the car like a jack rabbit, with
my wallet in hand, and sprinted to the gas pump to fill up, the service
attendant came out to greet me, and with the money in hand, he happily
accepted. As I was so conscious of the time, I hopped back in the car,
forgetting that I had left the wallet sitting on the boot of the car. With
less than 15 minutes to get back home. I put the pedal to the metal, and
we sped along the dusty, rocky roads of the North-West, and just before
we reached our street, we flew over afew road humps. As we reached our
long driveway, it then hit me that I had forgotten to pick up my wallet,
that I left on the boot of the car. I was embarrassed to tell my
companion, so I quietly hopped out of the car, shaking my head in dismay.
But as we walked towards our flat, I noticed at the corner of my eye, a
dark object, sitting on the boot of the car. I immediately recognised,
that it was my wallet. I wondered at first how the wallet was still able
to remain sitting on the boot of the car, especially after our speedy, but
rocky trip back. Well I ran to the car, and picked up my wallet, and with
delight and gratitude, I said a little prayer in my heart, and thanked
Heavenly Father for watching over us, and especially thanked him for
sending someone to hold onto my wallet. |
