On Mar 20, 2009 I was diagnosed with Leukemia. It came as quite a shock to me and my family. There is no history of cancer in my family, I am the first. A normal white blood cell count is between 3,000 to 11,000, on that day mine was 300,000. I spent six days at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. I now take medication daily that keeps my white blood cell count in a normal range, I’m told that I will have to take this medication for the rest of my life. This medication causes birth defects, so my wife and I are done having children. It has been a real blessing that we never waited to have kid after kid. In ten and a half years we had six kids, all girls. The last one born on June 23, 2009, named Hope Cameron. We named her after Cameron Court. It's hard to believe that it's been 13 years. We live in Nephi Utah. I own a roofing company. After ten years of doing this I have decided to go back to school. Iam be attending UVU full time while still working full time. I am a volunteer fire fighter on the Nephi Fire Department, I also am an EMT with East Juab Ambulance. My wife and I visited Brazil in January 2007, it was great. It still gives me goose bumps to know that Silvone (from Imbituba) is now the Tubarão Stake President. Since Cameron Court passed away I've felt bad that I haven't kept in touch with anyone from the mission, you never know when your time will come. We should have a reunion from the President Puerta era. If anyone is ever passing through Nephi feel free to stop by any time day or night |
