Power of a Priest 12 Jun 2012
I remember a young man who had joined the church just before I came in the area, I don't think he knew his father and his mother was involved in drugs and prostitution. Yet in spite of this he met the missionaries I believe about age 14 and got permission to join the church. He had a brilliant mind. He was bored at school and hardly attended but got straight A's. He attended college early. I first met him at our weekly district meeting. He came almost every week and participated in our gospel discussions, he used to go out with us as missionaries. He had a photographic memory and could recite back almost anything. He went with me to teach a first discussion and to our surprise the husband and an evangelical minister were their to bash. They had Kingdom of the Cults and kept interrupting the lesson so we said okay lets hear your questions. So they began. My young companion 17 proceeded to tell them what pages to go to and so on for about 15 minutes. They followed saying yes as he continued to answer the questions and move them thorugh the book, he knew it all. About this time the wife, who really was interested, apologized to us and said that although she was interested she knew her husband was not ready or willing to let her learn. She said to them, "Don't you see, they know your questions and even the pages before you ask them and still you won't listen." I don't know if she joined the church but he as well as other Priests who did 2 week missions helped us teach and be sucessful. I saw that young many years later on a business trip in Southern California and he was owning or running a computer or software company and very sucessful. I'm sure he made a great missionary when of age as he was already great at 17!! But we've seen other examples of great men at 17 and younger so with God all things are possible.
