After a year and a half of marriage, on Sept. 26, 2008, we had a baby boy - Elias Brig Christensen (he was a week late). He is our miracle baby for two reasons: first, I was told I would never be able to get pregnant; and second, because 24 hours after he was born we were sent to Primary Children's Medical Center and admitted to the NICU where we spent the next 5 weeks. Elias was diagnosed with V.A.C.T.E.R.L. Syndrome (too long to explain here).
Updated note: Elias is making a lot of progress and growing like a weed. In 2009 he had 2 open heart surgeries - including the placing of a pacemaker, along with 2 other surgeries. In 2010 he will have 2 more surgeries that we know of now. He is a little fighter and very developmentally on or ahead. He is definitely a blessing in our lives. |
