Jimmy was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2004 in the 18th round. He has been a starter at 2nd base for Dixie College. It was a hard decision cercerning a mission because he was possible going in the 5th round this year. He had to make a decision about the up coming draft. He choose a mission and had to call his Scout and tell him he was going on a mission. There is a lot more to the story, but that evening the Devil Rays called and said they would sign him and let him go on a mission. Jimmy said."You mean I get to do both!" The Lord was so merciful as this has only happened one other time in the history of baseball. Jimmy lost his 17 month older brother (his best friend and play mate) when Jim was 10 and Danny was 11. It was an accident in our home and Jim found him. Words can't express the pain this caused him and the rest of the family. |
