I’ll Go Where You Want Me to GO
The Hearts of the Children are turned....
My companion Sister Littler and I were assigned to open up the St. Albert area in the Calgary Canada Mission. While tracting one day, we met a woman who welcomed us in because her husband was a life long member though not practicing at that time. Sitting in her living room she told us all about her husband’s family which sounded eerily familiar to me until I realized she really was talking about my uncle Howard Hansen's family - and her husband was his brother! Having a 'family connection' we visited for quite awhile then arranged to come help them with the painting and sanding and got to stay for supper. My companion asked if we could come once a week to 'practice' teach them the discussions (since we assumed they were members though not attending). After getting transferred my surprise came when my former companion (Sister Littler) told me the mother and her oldest daughter accepted the challenge to be baptized because they had never been members. Of course I've remembered and occasionally thought about them for 2 decades and 9 years ago found out that daughter went on a mission of her own. The only 'new' idea was that the seemingly random place that I served and the seemingly random street we tracted out weren’t random at all and the idea that I had gone just "anywhere the Lord wanted me" was actually exactly the one place that something would happen that I personally would affect. I know any missionary could have gotten into the door as her husband was a member of our church but nobody else at the time would have been family. So approximately 27 years later I realize I was suppose to be in St. Albert Canada.
