“We both felt strongly that we could get 10 discussions this week and 2 baptisms for the month. Everyday we prayed for help to accomplish these goals. We really concentrated on working hard and doing all that we could do to achieve these goals…. We had so many appointments fall through it was really discouraging but we kept praying and working. Friday night we had only taught six discussions and Saturday two appointments fell through. At 7pm Saturday night we were still two discussions short of our goal and then everything fell into place and we were able to get our ten discussions in. We also committed a couple for baptism for this month!! It’s been so great to work with them. It’s been a great way to start me mission.”

“A missionary in the zone phoned in for numbers and said, ‘are you ready for some great news?’ He said three people in his area are ready for baptism, 9 discussions that week and had proselyted for over 40 hours. Everyone is doing great.”
-Elder Chapman and Elder Gibson, Millwoods Stake
“..last week we didn’t teach anyone but this week we taught nine discussions. I know that the Lord has blessed us. I have gained a testimony of hard work, and a stronger testimony of prayer. I love having the Spirit with me all of the time. This has been the most successful week of my whole mission. It is a witness to me of what missionary work should and can be when we are obedient and work hard and well with our companion.”
-Elder Beckstead and Elder C. Campbell, Bonnie Doon Stake
“We have three people committed for baptism this month which is very exciting. We also taught nine discussions, which is the best I’ve been a part of so far, two of them were from tracting. I know hard work pays off.”
-Elder Pierce and Elder Young, Millwoods Stake
“We taught the first discussion to a woman named Wanda this week. It was great because the Spirit was strong and she could feel it. She kept asking how she could feel the same peace that we had. She told us that she could see a light around our countenances. It was awesome to realize that whom the Lord calls, he qualifies. We are not perfect but we represent the Lord Jesus Christ and he fills in for us when we cannot.”

“We went to see a less-active who has an illness. We talked to her a bit and then shared with her Moroni 10:3-5. I didn’t know why I shared the scripture with her at that time; in fact I was quite surprised. That Sunday we were at Church and she came up to us and said, “Thank you.” She described how she could not stop thinking about what that scripture said. After we left that night she continued reading the Book of Mormon. All through the night she read and eventually she knelt down and began to pray. She said she had the most Spiritual experience she had ever had. I know she needed to hear that scripture at that time.”
-Elders Beharrel and Parkes, Millwoods Stake
“We are looking forward to the baptism which should take place this month. It will be a great day for he, his wife and us. They have been married for fifty-seven years and she has been a member all of her life. The day is almost here that he will be baptized. He wants to be sealed to his wife in the Temple.”
-Elders Rogers and Fisher, Riverbend Stake
“This week definitely started off great. On Monday we had a discussion with an old call back. We went in there thinking that all she wanted were some answers to questions about psychics but we had the opportunity to teach her the first discussion. She had a 1920 edition of the Book of Mormon and asked us how it all started. We told her about Joseph Smith and the restoration. She thought it was interesting and before we knew it time had flown by and added up. We still hadn’t taught her about the Holy Ghost. The climax of the visit came when we explained to her where the feelings inside came from. The Spirit was definitely there and recognizable.”
-Sisters Vottero and Leggler, Bonnie Doon Stake
“To top off the week we had a baptism. This man is quite amazing. He almost died in a car accident and has had many Spiritual experiences to bring him to the point he is at now. It is incredible what has led him to eventually join the Church.”
