The [family name] took the set a date discussion seriously. They prayed and fasted to know when a discussion could be held in their home. The answer was May 30. The person they thought that it might be kind of dropped out and so they thought it was going to take more time. Then one day out of the blue, Melissa, a friend of Sister [family name] called and and started to ask questions. (Sister [family name] only knew Melissa since November/December and hadn't spoken with her since. So Sister [family name] told Melissa that the Holy Ghost was prompting her to call. She also answered a lot of questions. When the time was right she invited her to hear the discussions. Melissa said she would think about it. During the thinking process she was warned about the mormons so she became a little reluctant. For almost a week she and Sister [family name] had no contact even though Sister [family name] had phoned a time or two. Then a few days pass and Sister [family name] was thinking about her again and was prompted to phone her right away. She did and asked if Melissa had been praying about the discussions. Melissa said she had been thinking about it and that it didn't sound too pushy or anything so why not start the discussions right away. Cool huh? So we get to teach Melissa. I am excited.

Laurine on Saturday received a stack of anti literature, so we fasted for her on Sunday. Then Wednesday we went to her house and talked with her. She said she didn't like the way the anti-books made her feel. We talked some more with her and she realized that what we were saying made sense and it felt better than those other books. She called her family to come andget the anti books they gave her. Laurine now feels much better than before, "FASTING WORKS"!!!

We are working with an awesome lady named Diane. Whenever we go over she sits and takes each bit of information slowly and chews on it and really understands it. She is living common law and so we were really scared to teach her the 4th discussion, so we decided to fast so that she might accept what we were saying and also that the spirit might be there very strongly. When we got to her house she brought up marriage questions and also questions about the word of wisdom before we had even started the discussion. As we taught her she was very quiet, but afterwards said that she knew it was right. It is so wonderful to see people recognize the trugh and to have the truth rekindle the small spark of the light of Christ that is in all of us. Heavenly Father answers prayers if we are humble enough to ask.

While we were teaching Melies she received her witness from the Holy Ghost. It was Friday morning at 10. We were walking to her home when her friendshipper drove past and asked us if we wanted a ride. I though it would be better for them to get settled in before we arrived. As we walked up to the house I saw the door open. I told Elder Zemp "this will be a good discussion" she is waiting for us. Sure enough it was. SHe was really enjoying the introduction page to the Book of Mormon. She only had one page left, so we took turns and finished it. Then we said a prayer and went ove rthe study guides one and two, reading the outlined scriptures. When we got to baptism we read Romans chapter 6 versus 3-4, then Mosiah 18:8-10. After Alma tells the requirements for baptism he asks "If this be the desires of your heart what have you against being baptized. Melies replied "Nothing." Att his point the spirit, the Holy Ghost passed through her three times, a tingle from head to to toe. It was warm and fuzzy and I never felt it like this before. She was able to recognize the spirit and knew our message was true. I know she received her witness because she did what the Lord required her to do first. She read the passages we assigned and prayed for an answer.
