Elder Ertel writes: One young member couple really took to heart the goal of finding someone to teach the Gospel to. They made a long list. On our return appointment with them we felt good about one lady on the list who works with the member at a Blood Donor Clinic. So Elder Facer and I setup a time to give blood and teach this lady a first discussion. When we turned up, the member told us that the lady was not at work today, but, whilst we were giving blood, she grabbed another lady she works with. We have taught her the second discussion at the members home and she says she'll be baptized, but not yet, since this is her first contact with the Church and she will need a little time.
Elder Faler writes: It's been a great week. We had a baptism on Saturday. She is a great lady and will be a strong member of the Church. Her husband, was less active, but as she took the discussions, he worked on his own worthiness and was able to baptize his wife. This is the first baptism of a convert I've seen, and I must say it was one of the best feelings I've ever had.
Elder Palmer writes: Elder Faler and I had the priviledge of seem our investigator baptized last month. She was baptized by her husband, who is now active in the Church again. It was very emotional for everyone present. The couple weren't found by a member referral or an old investigator record, but by Elders Davis and Taylor, who knocked on their door one day whilst tracting. It does happen!
Elder Schortinghuis writes: On Sunday, were able to take five new investigators to Church, which turned out well. We hope to begin the discussions soon. We are trying hard to follow Elder Mickelsen's counsel, but just inviting everyone to come to Church. So far, it has proven very valuable in allowing people to see a Church like nothing they have ever seen before.
Elder Pena writes: We try to get new people to attend Church. Last week we had seven investigators, almost as many non-members as members! It was so exciting! I know that if we do what Elder Mickelsen asked and bring one new person per week, this are will have many baptisms.
Sister Knoles writes: We've been setting goals for oursleves and, as we include those goals in our prayers and make them the focus of our minds, we've been able to accomplish them. One day this week we got yelled at and nobody would listen to us. I started worrying and fearing in my mind that we wouldn't reach our goal of 20 discussions. I realized that Heavenly Father wanted us to reach that goal even more than we did. We couldn't force people to listen to us, but a negative response shouldn't discourage us from talking to the next person we see. I learned not to fear, but to trust that the Lord will supply the people to teach, as long as I kept working and giving my best, despite the response. The next day, we were able to teach 8 discussions!
Sister Butchart writes: My first week out in the field has been an excellent experience. Miracles happen every day. Sister Knoles and I set a goal to teach two discussions. We worked hard with prayers in our hearts and were able to teach five! We knew them that when we have faith in righteous goals, Heavenly Father will help us to reach them for his children. The many ways in which the Lord blesses his missionaries help to strengthen and confirm my faith in His love for His children. |
