Comments: Brad Wilcox was born and reared in Provo, Utah apart from childhood years spent in Ethiopia, Africa. He served his mission in Vina del Mar, Chile and graduated from BYU with a degree in Elementary Education. His wife, Debi Gunnell Wilcox, served her mission in Guatemala and is an RN. They have four children: Wendee, 20, who has been serving and helping in the Chile Santiago East mission; Russell, 19, who is serving in the Malaga, Spain Mission; Whitney (13) and David (11) who are living with their parents in Chile and loving the missionaries.
President Wilcox taught 6th grade in Provo for three years before joining the faculty at BYU where he supervised student teachers until leaving to pursue his advanced degree. In 1994 he graduated from the University of Wyoming with his Ph.D. in Education and returned again to BYU where he taught courses in literacy education and children's literature. He directed the Mexico Student Teaching Program and Guatemala Internships as well as living with his family in New Zealand as he directed a literacy-focused study abroad semester there. He has also worked with CES Youth and Family Programs for many years and has been involved with Especially for Youth, Campus Education Week, and other similar programs. He loves working with the youth and has written many books and articles for young people and for parents and leaders of young people. |
