My parents left Santa Monica, CA for SLC while I was on my mission. Married in June 1973 to Patricia Fitt of SLC. Two children and 5 grandchildren. Graduated from U of Utah in Accounting June 1974 and stayed in Accounting & Finance for 20 years. In 1996 transferred into International Business and Retired Sept 2006. In April 2007 we submitted our papers for a mission [to wherever and for whatever], received a calling in May 2007 and served in Barcelona Spain on a CES [Institute] mission from September 2007 to March 2009. The enjoyment of serving and helping was great. My wife knows how to love the young adults, and I was immersed in Spanish when teaching and substituting. About 75% of the young adults are from Latin America, mostly Ecuador and Peru, but several from Chile. The Barcelona institute is established with 50 to 70 attending during the week and sometimes over 100 at the monthly dance.
The focus of the mission was assisting the institute and its director in activities, refreshments, teaching, substituting, administration and overall being greeters. Before leaving we started the "Outreach" initiative which brings, the institute, YSA and the missionaries together to provide for the institute to become a center for missionary work for YSA (Young Single Adults).
