I served from May 1986-May 1988. I started in Cartago , then went to Medellin, Cali, Palmyra, Pereira and ended up in Armenia. I am in the middle of a move right now and can't find my journal from that time period so I can't give all of my companions. But I remember Villar, Rincon, Alvarez, Kemp, Tovar, Barragan, and Hintze. There are a few more, but my memory is getting older by the minute.

I was a missionary in the Colombia, Cali mission from June 1986 to June 1988. I was fortunate enough to have had Elder Lynn Mickelson and Jorge Leano as my mission presidents. I served in Armenia with David Hamm and John Ellis. I served in Medellin with Chris Huff and Heath Bringhurst. I served in Pasto with Elders Larsen and DeAvila. I served in Manizales with Luis Chaparro and Sean Taylor. I served in Palmira with Elders Angerbauer and Wunderlich, and then finished up in Cali with Elders Morgan and Cook. What a wonderful mission. I have many fond memories of my mission experience and look back on them often. I have kept in touch with Ken Black over the years, and have two returned missionaries from earlier times in the mission living in my ward, Kerry Barlow and Reagan Wood. I married my beautiful wife, Cherie, in the Salt Lake Temple on March 23, 1991. We are the parents of Stevie (7), Cali (6) and Sarah (19 months). I am employed by Link Trucking, Inc. as Vice President of Operations. We are an import and export transportation firm and I love to take time to read the customs papers on shipments leaving for Colombia and coming from Colombia. It was a very "chevere" time of my life. I served on a mission in the Colombia-Cali mission since April/86 to April/88. I served under president Mickelsen and Leanno. I worked in Armenia, Palmira, Cali, and manizales. It was great to find this Home Page! I obtained BS and MSc. degrees in chemistry from the Industrial University of Santander (Bucaramanga, Colombia). Currently I am pursuing a Ph.D. degree here at BYU, Provo. I have been in here for 17 months with my Wife (Alba) and my two kids (Carla,3 and Luis,2). They look funny because both of them are enduring chicken pox.

I received a BA in English from BYU, completed some masters work in creative writing, and now, among other things, run a computer business in Tekoa, WA, a small town of about 900 people out in the middle of nowhere. I would love to talk with the missionaries who served in my mission. I found this page just today and it is really great to see how many things have happened to a lot of the missionaries. I served during the years 85 and 86 and have the best memories of my mission and friends there. I was in Colombia for two years and the people are just as nice as they were when we were there. I am from Cartagena but now i live in the states. My wife is from Washington and we have no children yet. Soon I will write to some of the elders i met during my mission and I will tell them about some projects that I am sponsoring there to have missionaries go on missions, put some kids to school, doctor, piano classes etc. Keep working for the Lord. Hola!! My name is Jim Stoor and I was a missionary during the years of 1986-1988 under the mejores presidentes en el mundo. Elder Lynn A Mickelsen and Presidente Jorge Leano. I too agree that the Colombia Cali mission was the best it the world and it had the best of the best in missionaries. I started my mission in Chinchina. For the longest time I could not say that. My first companion was the best ever., “Elder Gamba” and if it wasn’t for him I truly do not know if I would have stayed. I was not the fastest in learning Espanol and so he was my mentor and tutor, and to him I give my thanks. I had many companions while on my mission. They were Gamba, Thayne, Ramirez, Millett, Meyers, Gomez, Penas, Nelson, Olenslager, Brooks, Pehrson, Tovar, and Castro. I served in Chinchina, Medellin,Cali (2 times), Pasto, Dos Quebradas,Tulua, and Manizales. I enjoyed my mission and all my companions. Not saying that there wern’t any difficulties in my companionships, but I can truthfully say that each one of my companions were great in their own little way.
