I just wanted to fill you all in on the situation in Colombia right now. I just got back from spending a week in Colombia. I started in Bogota, then hit Palmira, Cali, Medellin, Armenia, Pereira, and then back to Bogota. I didnt have time to get to Popayan and Ipiales. It was incredible. Things are good. You wouldnt believe the amount of "tall white Americans" I saw walking around Bogota. If you are thinking of going??? Right now is a good time. Id say within this next year. I had a totally safe experience. 90% or more of the families My companions and I taught and baptized are active...have been sealed in the Temple...and are Bishops, High Priests, and much more. 5 years since I went back. It was great. More people would like to see and hear from their missionaries. It brings so much hope and light to their lives when and if they get to see your faces again. Id say GO!!!

I plan on visiting Colombia in April 6-13th this will be my first vacation in quite some time.
I haven't visited Colombia in 28 years. I will be visiting the coast, never went there on my mission. My wife Martha has family there and we will be taking them to some of the places we go. There is an eclipse of the sun on the 8th near sundown that also brings me there we will be in Cartagena for it. like to say hello to all the Alumni of the 1974 to 1976 period.

Dear Elders and Sisters,
As a general authority of the Church I find myself in what I consider to be one of the greatest fraternities in the world. There is a common concern for our families, our health and our general welfare. Sister Mickelsen and I consider our association with our missionaries equal to family and the other general authorities. Almost 50 years later I still keep in contact with fellow missionaries from the Central American mission. They are cherished friends and loyal supporters.
To preserve the friendship and loyalty established in the Cali mission we encourage all of you who can possibly attend the reunion this April to do so. We look forward to that time together to renew friendships and commitment. Please pass the word and forward any email addresses, etc to Erik Zenger.
