Nile Alma Sorenson, 73, Carbon Canyon Ward, Chino California Stake, called as president of the Los Angeles Temple, succeeding Pres. Glen H. Walker. Pres. Sorenson's wife, Charlene Wight Sorenson, will serve as temple matron.
Pres. Sorenson is a former president of the Denver Colorado Mission, temple president's counselor, director of the Los Angeles Temple Visitors Center, regional representative, area director of public affairs, stake president and bishop. A retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force, he has a bachelor's degree from Utah State University and master's of business administration from Michigan State University. He was born in Heyburn, Idaho, to Alma E. and Margaret A. Petersen Sorenson.
Sister Sorenson is a former ward and stake Relief Society president, accompanied her husband on their mission in Colorado, temple worker and supervisor, Primary president and teacher and Young Woman adviser. She was born at Brigham City, Utah, to Lewis S. and Ruby Adams Wight.

Nile Alma Sorenson, 70, and his wife, Charlene Wight Sorenson, are members of the Carbon Canyon Ward, Chino California Stake. He was recently released as a counselor in the Los Angeles Temple presidency, and is the former LDS director of public affairs for Orange County, Calif., former president of the Colorado Denver Mission, regional representative, stake president, stake executive secretary, bishop, high councilor, and branch president. He was a career Air Force officer, who later worked as the director of information systems and services for the Hunt-Wesson Foods and Beatrice Food Industry. |
