I graduated in May, '02 with an AAS in Automotive Technology from SUU and graduated (again) with a Bachelor's in Ag Science in May of '04.
I went to work for Washington County as their Noxious Weed Supervisor, after college; unfortunately, that was short-lived.
On January 21, 05, my Guard unit, the 222nd Field Artillery was activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom. 6 months in training in Camp Shelby, MS and Fort Irwin, CA and we headed for Iraq. We spent a year in Ramadi. Iraq is not a place you want to vacation in, I'll leave it at that.
When I got home, I landed a job with the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food. I know, it's a mouthful! I enjoy my work, helping farmers, ranchers and producers. Our division's homepage: http://ag.utah.gov
Married? Yeah, in August of '02 to a beautiful redhead from Nephi. Molly's the 6th of 8 (7 girls and 1 boy) and she's a great find. Mostly because she digs my truck and my motorcycle and even wants a bike of her own so we can tour the country together. How cool is that? I ride a Candy Orange '03 Honda VTX 1800 Retro, my dream bike. I bought it just before I left for Iraq.
While I was in Camp Shelby, I got to come home for a few days for the birth of our first child: a beautiful, happy baby girl. We named her Paisley. She's now 19 months old and learning new words every day. She's so playful and curious. I'm grateful I left her early in her life; she'll never remember missing her dad. Now, my wife's pregnant with our second child. In a few weeks it should be old enough to find out its sex. We're pretty excited about that, too!
Currently, I'm an assistant advisor to the deacons quorum and assistant Scoutmaster. I've never been in Scouting before (as an adult) and I'm enjoying the new challenge. |
