Presidents: J. Lynn Shawcroft (1986 - 1989) | Served: 1986 - 1988 | Areas Served: MTC, companion was Randall Crocket; Barrio Alborada (Sauces 3) Companions were Barton and Dugger; Pascuales (tiny town 30 miles from Guayaquil), companions were "Sargeant" Hull and Griffith "Griffin"); La Chala, companion Criollo; Salinas-La Libertad, companions Charlie "rebel with a cause" Dean, from Oregon, and David "led by the spirit" Wells; Bucay, companions were Hansen and Price; Manta, companions, Gamez, Smith and Hillier. I also had the pleasure of living with Elder Hurst twice | Companions: Eric Hillier | David Jon Wells | Comments: Some of my fonder memories of missionaries are Elder Marcos Menendez walking like an Egyptian to the tune of the song by that name, getting locked in the Guayaquil Cathedral on accident after zone conference, Elder Montoya's compassion when a group of us foolishly went to see the "fish people" near Manta, P-days on the beach (meeting President Febres-Cordero on New Year's Day and watching Sister Gutierrez flex for a picture with him), being attacked by Elder Dean's bird, and my companions in general. After the mission I returned to BYU (got an internship working for Greg Rice's Senator thanks to Greg), graduated, and went to Law School at Pepperdine. Now I'm working for a small (about my size) law firm in Los Angeles. I'm basically enjoying life in the big city, but my boss keeps me busy. I enjoyed Michael Calta's book (look him up on this web site) and would recommend it to all of you. |
