I remember batidos en Quevedo, batidos en Ventanas (in dirty glasses), p-noches, rubber boots (Ventanas, again), SuperMaxi, Ricky Martin (except he was a little goof with braces plastered on everyone's wall), dogs with underbites (all of them!), El Chapulin (doesn't he make guest appearances on The Simpsons?), Chavo del Ocho, the Adkins/Webb/Brannelly Concert Tour (Quito '84), Didier legend, Otavalo geeks (I'm just jealous . . .), La Mujerdocio, bus-chasing, quiet and low-key political campaigns, salchipapas (no mustard, but oh, was there mayonnaise!), hot yellow soup on an even hotter afternoon, and grilled street-tripe served on a fresh piece of newspaper. |
