NAME	ORGANIZED	FIRST PRESIDENT
The number immediately preceding the name of the mission indicates the total number of missions in existence at the time of its organisation. A letter after the number indicates that the number was reached previously; the letter is added to clarify cross-references. * Denotes a name change; capital letters indicate the mission's new name By using this list it is possible to trace the 'family tree' of each mission. Included in each mission entry is the number, in parenthesis, of the 'parent' mission from which it was created, and, in the 'See also' entry, the numbers of the 'offspring' missions that were created from divisions of this mission. Also included are the numbers of missions that this mission may have been transferred to when it was discontinued, and the number the mission was assigned when it was re-opened.
