After ELSM I moved to New York City to study music and I'm still here. Along the way I got an MBA and switched to Wall Street Investments, met my wife and had 4 children. I'm haven't really kept in touch, but I think of the mission often. Now and then I run across an old ELSM'er in NYC or in SLC - usually the weird ones (I must fit into that crowd well I guess).
The growth of the church here feels like a mission. In the 14 years I've been here, the stake has grown from 9 to 23 units (now 2 stakes), from one chapel on Manhattan to 6, and we dedicate a temple in Manhattan in June, 2004. I'm currently a counselor in the Stake Presidency, which is a big step down in responsibility from teaching Valiants in Primary. The members here are great and very diverse in personal and church background.
I hope the missionaries and presidents uphold the great tradition of the ELSM! All the best to my old compatriots! |
