I proposed to her the same weekend that she received a mission call to France; she consulted with her stake president who advised her to "marry her young man." We married in the Los Angeles Temple in September, 1963. We are the parents of six children, four of whom have married, all in the L.A. Temple. I completed a PhD program in political philosophy and jurisprudence from the Claremont Graduate School in 1973; and wrote my dissertation jointly between Claremont and Oxford (All Souls College, under Dr Robert Shackleton [noted Montesquieu scholar, now deceased]) on the political philosophy of Montesquieu. I have been teaching at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, since 1967. I am nearing retirement, and looking forward to spending more time with my wife, traveling, enjoying my growing number of grandchildren, and tending my garden. |
