Comments: (excerpt from Deseret News)Raquel Kay Adams, 52, died May 24, 2001 of conditions directly related to lupus. She was born May 11, 1949 in Provo, UT to Morris and Margaret Bird. She grew up in Orem and Cedar City, UT and Lander, WY. Raquel received a Bachelors degree from BYU and a master of Library Science from the University of Arizona. Raquel married Leo B. Adams in the Salt Lake Temple and had two daughters, Ann, deceased, and Melinda. She served in many church callings including Relief Society president of the SLC 19th Ward in the Salt Lake Stake. She was employed as a supervisor at the Utah State Library for several years. Raquel suffered a severe stroke in 1986 and also fought the disease lupus. She was devoted to her husband and family. She also loved books, bird watching and genealogy. She is survived by her husband, Leo; daughter, Melinda; sisters, Margot Lynn George and Sally Gunnell; and brothers, Jim, Terry, Payson, and Bill. |
