Several articles have appeared in the French press in the last two weeks announcing the anticipated purchase by the Church of 400 hectares (1.54 square miles) of land in the village of Villepreux [ http://splaf.free.fr/depmap.php?depnum=781 ]. According to the press, the Church intends to use the extensive former domaine de Gondi for the construction of a temple. The land which includes farmland, woods, a pond, and various buildings and outbuildings, and which is in the sightlines of the Chateau de Versailles, is valued at around 39 million euros ($47 million).
(The Church itself has not officially announced its intentions for the land use, but due to the multiple and steady reports received at the France Paris Mission Alumni Web Site, we deemed it important to pass along. When an official announcement is made by the Church, we will let you know also.)
