Here are some items that you can't easily find in France that you might consider sending in a care package, Christmas or birthday present, etc.:
- Anti-perspirant - French deodorants don't include anti-perspirant
ingredients
- Peanut butter - while this is sold as pâte d'arachides, particularly in the African markets in Paris, in the rest of the mission, it's
difficult to find
- Root beer extract/mix - root beer is almost impossible to find in Europe
- Jello/Kool-aid - investigators and members probably won't like them however
- Marshmallows - though they aren't exactly that easy to ship
- Cream of tartar - for snickerdoodles
- Measuring cups and spoons - in non-metric units, for American recipes
Missionaries also often take months to find baking soda, because it's sold in pharmacies and it's called bicarbonate de soude. (Baking powder
and yeast are sold in the supermarkets and are respectively levure
chimique and levure boulangère.)
