Greetings,
I ran across this site while looking up missions. My youngest daughter is currently serving in the Temple Square mission, and will be spending the next few months in the Atlanta Georgia mission. I have five children and eight grandchildren. Sons have served in Haiti, Boston, and the Philippines. My youngest brother served in Hamburg four years after I did. In my work in Silicon Valley, I have been in Asian countries a lot, but rarely in Europe. I went to Italy for a week two years ago, and had long layovers in Frankfurt in both directions. I was surprised to find that my comprehension was pretty good, although my spoken vocabulary was poor. I have tried to learn Korean, Japanese, and Mandarin, but it does not come as easily to me as German did. I am currently serving as a counselor in the Bishopric. The church here is shrinking. We do reasonably well in our missionary efforts, but it is a very expensive area, and it is difficult for young LDS families to buy a house and stay.
Update 2018:
I retired this year, sold the house in Silicon Valley, and moved back to Utah. I am now living in Woodland Hills. We are working with the Weblos and serving in the Payson Temple. |
