Helen Williams Moon Buhrley, 93, was joyously re-united with her husband, Louis, on April 22, 2011.
Helen was born on April 29, 1917 in Cherry Creek, Idaho, to Rachel and Verlorum Moon. She enjoyed her life on the farm with her 5 sisters and 1 brother. After graduating from Malad High School, she moved to Salt Lake and lived at the Beehive House while attending Henager Business College. After graduation, she worked at Ballard Motor Co. and the Singer Co. as a bookkeeper. It was during this time that she met and eventually married Louis E. Buhrley on July 1, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived a short time in Salt Lake and then moved to Huntsville where they spent the next 45 years providing an extraordinary haven for their 7 children and forming many lasting, eternal friendships.
Helen served faithfully in each of the auxiliaries; including as president of the Relief Society, Young Women and Primary. She and Lou were ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple until they were called to serve a mission in Munich, Germany in 1985. Her crowning glory may have been the next 19 years as she took care of her husband after he became ill. Her love, patience, endurance and optimism will long be remembered by her posterity. She will also be remembered for her sense of humor, charity and faith, (and her cinnamon rolls!).
Helen is survived by her 4 sons, Louis (Joan) Buhrley, Max (Lola) Buhrley, Roger Buhrley, Ron (Karen) Buhrley and 3 daughters, Kathy (Bob) Buswell, Lynne (Greg) Graves and Julie (Kerry) Wahlen; 31 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren (with 7 more “pending”). She is also survived by her brother, Verlin Moon and sister, Ralene Nielsen.
She was preceded in death by her husband; 4 sisters (Sybella Morris, Evelyn Beck, Celia Smith, Taressa Moon) and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Huntsville South Fork Ward, 277 South 7400 East, Huntsville, Utah. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, April 27th from 6 – 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Huntsville City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to an LDS charity of your choice.
The family would like to express a special thanks to LaDawn, Katie and the staff of Advocate Hospice for the wonderful care they provided and the staff at Emeritus Estates.
