Comments:
We have kind of had a lot of things happening in our lives lately. I decided to switch jobs, which was really hard because I loved my old job. I used to teach Pre-K, which I loved. I now work for Quest Diagnostics in the insurance services area. My decision to switch jobs came because we were preparing to adopt a baby and I wanted to get things in order, financially, before we were placed with a baby.
In December 2006 right before Christmas was a change that we will never forget.
We have been working with LDS Family Services for about 1 year to adopt a baby. We had a few leads, but in the end they didn't work out.
On Dec. 20th we were called into the office and told that we had an early Christmas present. Our social worker told us there was a baby girl born that they wanted to place with us. Of course we agreed and literally over night our lives changed. On Dec. 22nd we went to court and the judge granted us custody of our daughter. We picked her up that afternoon from the agency. She was exactly 1 week old and soo beautiful. We named her Meleonilehua Finehikalarue Tonga. In case your wondering she is named after the most important people in our lives, our mothers. Well, Meleoni is my aunt, Lehua is David's biological mother (who passed away) middle name, Finehika is the middle name of David's mother who raised him, and Larue is my mom's name.
She is now 3 1/2 months old and getting bigger every day. We will be going to Utah next month and I can't wait for my family to see her.
Well, aside from being a couple, to now being a family of 3, things are wonderful. I can't wait to be able to go through this experience again and become a family of 4 or 5 or 6.....ummm...for now we'll just stick with 3.
Well, for those who want to see pictures you can go to tevitaandleah.com or myspace.com/leahtonga.....
Aloha and Ofa Atu
