Christian Kananiokawai "Kuki" Lelepali |
Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and son-in-law, Kuki Lelepali, at the young age of 28, was called home by our Heavenly Father on September 3, 2004 after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Kuki was born on April 21, 1976 to Bruce K. and Maila D. Lelepali in Salt Lake City, Utah. In his early childhood he was always a friend and close companion to his older brother. He grew up in Sandy City and attended school at Bellview Elementary, Mt. Jordan Middle School and went on to graduate from Jordan High in 1994. While attending Jordan High School, he excelled in Track. He was a likeable person and was always helping his younger sisters. He will be dearly missed by all of his "ohana" (family) in Hawaii and Utah. Kuki served an honorable LDS Mission in the Hawaiian Islands from 1995-1997. He attended Salt Lake Community College and was close to receiving a degree in computer information systems. Kuki married his eternal companion, Maile Michiko Een, on July 18, 1998 in the Bountiful LDS Temple. He was the most kind, caring and respectful husband. He always put his wife before himself. He loved spending time with his family going camping, fishing, spending time outdoors, and going to the drive-in movie theatre. He was a patient person. He was hard working and was always recognized by all of his employers. He had a big heart and was willing to stop and help someone change a tire or with anything they needed. He was a soft-spoken man but set a good example to all who knew him. Kuki was an active member of the LDS Church and lived a Christ-like life in his remaining years with his family. He served in many capacities in his ward and loved serving his Father in Heaven. Kuki is survived by his wife, Maile; son, Israel; daughter, Marley; parents, Bruce and Maila Lelepali; brother, Hagoth (Angela) Lelepali; sisters, Dore (Shane) Holden, Holden Beach, NC; Emma Lelepali (serving in the California Los Angeles Mission); his in-laws, David and Sandra Een, Bountiful; and many extended relatives in Hawaii, California and Utah. The family would like to thank the Oquirrh 2nd and Mt. Jordan 7th Wards for all of their love and service. They would also like to thank Dr. Patricia Legant, the Cottonwood Hospital 5th floor staff, the BMT unit at the University of Utah Hospital, and My Family.com. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Oquirrh 2nd Ward Chapel, 5208 West Cyclamen Way (6350 So.), West Jordan, Utah. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State Tuesday 6-8 p.m. or Wednesday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Lake Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lelepali Family Trust at any America First Credit Union.
