The First Presidency has announced the call of a new mission president in the India Bangalore Mission. Gurcharan Singh Gill, 57, Edgemont 2nd Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont Stake; Blazer B teacher and Scout leader, former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop's counselor, high priests group leader, and Young Men president; professor of mathematics at BYU; earned bachelor's degree in mathematics from BYU, and master's degree and doctorate from the University of Utah, both in mathematics; born in Moga, Ferozepore, Punjab, India, a son of Ram Singh and Basant Kaur Sidhu Gill; married Vilo Pratt, seven children. She is Merrie Miss B teacher; former stake Primary president's counselor, ward Relief Society president, ward Primary president and counselor, and Cub Scout leader; served in Mexico Mission, 1953-55; earned bachelor's degree in elementary educuation from Idaho State College; born in El Paso, Texas, a daughter of Joseph Wilcken and Vilo Williams Pratt. |
