Comments: My son just got home from serving a mission in Sacramento. He loved it. I'm writing a book and my publisher is driving me crazy. He's anxious for it to go to press. It's almost done. I"ll be glad to get it off my back, before I write the next one. My youngest son is a talented high school pitcher. One magazine named him among the top 100 high school players in the nation. Part way through his senior years, after being recruited by Pac-12 schools, including Stanford, he tore a muscle in his shoulder. We are lucky it's not his elbow or rotator cuff but he does need surgery and then he has to go back and prove that he's as good as ever and can still generate that 90 + fast ball. I'm struggling right now to get him fixed. No insurance, and worse, he wants to go on a mission but they won't let him with this pre-existing condition. I want him on a mission but I also want him back on the mound. I can't squander a gift like that. We'll have to see how it works out. Before the last regular season he was invited to play in a league for kids who were particularly talented. They were the best and every coach at every major university came and watched. They had a lot of kids to look at, so he'd pitch two innings here and maybe four the next time. When the league was over he pitched slightly over 50 inning and gave up 3 hits and one earned run. That's when coaches started drooling. Now he's damaged good and we've got to get him back to where he was, even if I have to sell a kidney. Doctors say it's an easy injury to fix and shouldn't reoccur. I'd give my kingdom for a cheap surgeon and an even cheaper hospital. | |
