Subject: Addio Babilonia vogliamo lasciarti ed andare!!!
I really like that little phrase. It means, "Goodbye Babylon, we want to leave you and go!!!" It is in Ye Elders of Israel, an amazing hymn. Reading the emails and everything that you have written has reminded me of that. I am finishing my mission next week, and am returning home to my normal life. I will be a missionary still, as we are all commanded to be, but it is in a different way.
I have become more open to how people think as I have passed 2 years in the mission talking to people from many diverse nations, languages, cultures, etc. We naturally think of the bad things and shrink in horror watching those things happen, but what have we to fear!! Fear is the opposite of faith. We need to develop a greater faith in Christ our Savior and have hope in all things. A thing that really got me in General Conference is that, "Things will always get better." Maybe not in this life, but after it will, that is a promise. We will be happier and live a better, happier and more joyful life after.
This life will end, and what a joyous day it will be for the righteous to see Christ's face when He comes!! For the wicked though, that will be a day of fear, as they Christ will say, "Depart from me ye doers of wickedness, for I never knew you." Again as it says in the Book of Mormon that there is never peace unto the wicked. At least until that day that they have repented for their sins in completeness.
I have made 5 letter phrases for my district about things that I have learned in the mission. If I could only choose one to tell you all right now, I would say this one, "Your life is the Lord's." That is true.
At times we are selfish and do things that may affect others for the worse. We need to do our best to love everyone and to be selfless. Let us all do what we need to and love people.
Arrivederci!!!(See you later)
Your Calabrese missionary,
Anziano Heyrend
