Since Catania (July 1996), Carol and I have been living in Highland, Utah, in a home we had purchased at the end of our mission in Milano (July 1995). I have been serving as a patriarch in the Highland East Stake for the past 18 months, after 2 1/2 years as Stake YM President. Carol has been teaching in Relief Society and primary. In retirement from the US Foreign Service, I have been working part time as a contract consultant, primarily with Amsec International, doing insurance risk assessments of armored car companies in Latin America. I've been able to use a lot of Portuguese and Spanish, but no Italian, as I travel about 4 or 5 times a year for a two week period to armored car installations in a number of cities down there. Carol has been has been enjoying teaching elementary school since our return, a love she abandoned for most of our married life. She is now teaching second grade at Greenwood Elementary in American Fork. We are both enjoying reasonably good health and, since our return, the number of our grand children has increased from 6 to 11. They keep us young! We have not been back to Italy, but would love to go back before long to hold a reunion with former missionaries from both missions. |
