Ralph N. Shino, president of the Dai Ichi Branch of the Salt Lake Liberty Stake, has been called by the First Presidency to preside over the Japan Mission. Born Feb. 11, 1923, in Honokawai, Maui, Hawaii, to Yuhei and Qwari Kitano Shino, Pres. Shino was baptized on his 19th birthday following his conversion in his home town. He married Lily Yuriko Yasuda on Dec. 15, 1950, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have four children. Pres. Shino, who is an installment loan official at Zions First National Bank, has served in the church as a high councilor, bishop's counselor and as a counselor in the Salt Lake Valley regional mission presidency. Sister Shino was born April 14, 1923, in Eureka, Utah, to George Y. and Yasuko Miki Yasuda. She has served as a work director and counselor in Relief Society, as a teacher in Primary and MIA, and as a branch librarian.
