I was in Tokyo working in Shibuya in Oct. or
Nov.1956, but waiting for a transfer and couldn't speak Japanese yet. They didn't have the Japanese Language mission homes in those days.
I attended the 1st or 2nd meeting of the Tokyo North BRANCH with
Elder Turley from AZ, Ass't to Pres. Andrus.(He has passed away now.)
Elder Marion Cook was the first Branch Pres.
A dear Sister brought her TITHING in that she had saved for 30
YEARS to that 1st branch meeting! She had been through that terrible war &
starvation & poverty and STILL saved her 'Widow's Mite' for the Lord.
Amazing! I wish I knew her name. |
