Comments: I am 18 years old and recently got my call to serve in the Mexico Leon Mission. I am so excited! It seems strange that I am already getting ready to go serve! I am from Wenatchee, WA, a medium-sized orcharding community in the central part of Washington State. I am already fairly fluent in Spanish, and am ready to head out. I have to wait until March 29th though. I play the guitar in a band, I love to snowboard, hike, camp, fish, hunt, sing, and spend time with my family. I love this wonderful Gospel, and cannot wait to share it with the wonderful people of the Leon Mission. I have an interesting story that I would like to relate. I have been speaking Spanish my whole life with three brothers who come every year from Mexico to work on my family's orchard. They come around May stay until late October, and then they migrate back to Mexico. All of my life I have felt guilty not getting to know these three men better. When I opened my call letter, two nights ago, and read it out loud, my Grandfather started to tear up. After looking at my mission packet, and the map of the mission, my Grandfather pointed out the small city of Silao where these three brothers live. What a coincidence that these three men that I have known my whole life, the people who practically taught me Spanish and the Mexican culture, are in my mission! I will definitely search them out! |
