Presidents: Vern R. Peel (1972 - 1975) | Served: 1973 - 1975 | Areas Served: Minneapolis, Rhinelander, Janesville, St. Paul, Bloomington, Menominee Falls | Companions: John Calderwood | Carl (Dave) Hallstrom | Your Occupation: Physician | Spouse: Margie | Comments: Following my mission, I returned to BYU. I roomed with Elder David Needham, with whom I had been companions twice. I graduated in Zoology then moved on to the University of Utah, where I received my medical degree in 1981. I went to the University of California, San Diego for residency training in obstetrics and gynecology for four years, then practiced with Kaiser Permanente in San Diego for two years. Upon discovering that working in a large HMO was not for me, I moved to Pendleton, OR, where I worked in a small town environment for eleven years. In 1998, I moved back to Salt Lake City, where I have been in practice since 1998. My wife and I were married in 1976. She was in my branch at BYU. We have been blessed with six children: Geoff, Becky, Peter, Jonathan, Scott, and Julie. All of our children except Julie have served missions to date, having gone to Japan, Poland, Tahita, Tennessee, and Brazil, respectively. In 2000 I co-authored "Between Husband & Wife", a book for LDS couples on the subject of marital intimacy. Today, I continue to practice ob/gyn, give firesides and speak at Education Week and on cruises, and serve in my ward. Life has been good to us. |
